I'm not talking about the living, breathing kind of goose. I want to take a moment to appreciate the lawn geese. The concrete statue you may find on your grandmother's porch. These are the underappreciated objects that deserve to be recognized.

Some may wonder how these statues came to be a staple in the yards of many. The phenomenon of the lawn goose came about in the 1980s. The idea can be traced back to Kentucky, while quickly spreading to Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania. The trend is said to have begun due to the popularity of these creatures in this geographic region.

Around 1998, the act of dressing one's goose statue became a popular practice. Owners began collecting outfits and accessories and regularly changing the outfits of their goose. It is unclear how the tradition came about, but it is undisputed that the trend caught on quickly. Whether it is holiday attire or everyday outfits, these geese are dressed to impress.
